Kit includes Velcro strips and safety tether to attach PLB to lifevest bladder!
Placing a PLB antenna in the water can diminish the PLB signal. You have a choice. Either you can hold it up in the air, (which will get old fast), or you can attach it to a high point on your person. The U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crews have a piece of Velcro to the top side of their helmets to stick their PLB to.
Since you probably don't use a helmet, you should attach a piece of pile (soft side) Velcro w/adhesive to a area on your lifevest bladder. To do this, you must open the casing, exposing the bladder. Place the 2x2 piece of pile Velcro in the area close to where your head comes out (see picture). Then add the "hook side" of the Velcro to the back of the PLB.
After Egress In Water:
1. Inflate Vest
2. Remove PLB from AST Overwater Pouch side pocket and activate.
3. Place PLB on Velcro on lifevest bladder.
4. Attach PLB safety line to lifevest. (Safety line acts as "back-up" in case PLB gets knocked off of the bladder).
